Mostly I will post or re-blog Indonesian foods and drinks pictures, and anything else related to them.

Enjoy :)

Bakmi Ayam Gajah Mada (Indonesia)
In Indonesia, you can find many roadside stalls selling cheap and simple Bakmi Ayam (chicken noodle). Pictured is a bowl of Bakmi Ayam by a famous restaurant chain called Bakmi Gajah Mada.
This is one of the things I look forward to most whenever I go back to Jakarta

Back at Orchard Road we found ourselves hunting for our next interesting food spot. The last time we soaked in the atmosphere of my after school haunt of Far East Plaza and this time we had to balance it with a trip to Lucky Plaza (oh noooh, I’ve never had a maid).

We were originally looking for Filipino cuisine but that day being a public holiday, most of the shops were closed. We headed to the food court downstairs only to miss it for a greater opportunity. Indonesian cuisine…

Now, Indonesian is quite (no, very) rare in Auckland for some strange reason. So this was really something worth exploring. We ended up with similar dishes (one Chicken and the other Fish).

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to dine traditionally by eating with my right hand. To me its appropriate as I would snear at someone having a bowl of noodles with a fork and spoon (um, sorry Dad). The penyet dishes were awesome! Although I can’t see what’s so penyet (smashed) about them… but they were deep fried to a standard that Colonel Sanders would envy.

Unfortunately, it was all so tasty that my complain was the lack of rice to mop up all the asam sambal and tempeh. Highly recommended!
